The Terres Noires 1 wind farm in Portes du Vermandois, operational since October 2017, features 9.51 MW of Senvion turbine capacity strategically positioned to capture the region’s favorable wind flows. Developed by Virya Energy (ex-Eurowatt), this installation represents the first phase of renewable energy development in this area, establishing a foundation for subsequent expansion. The Senvion technology deployed here excels in variable wind conditions, maintaining efficient operation across a wide range of wind speeds typical of the Vermandois region. Virya Energy’s comprehensive environmental impact assessments and transparent stakeholder engagement ensured the project met rigorous sustainability standards while gaining strong local support. The success of Terres Noires 1 paved the way for additional wind energy projects in the broader region.
