Liège and Halle, July 7, 2026 – Reno.energy, Wallonie Entreprendre, and Virya Energy announce the launch of a financing platform for photovoltaic projects aimed at Belgian companies and institutions. Their goal: remove the main obstacle to deploying large solar installations, namely financing.

Many companies want to produce their own energy to durably reduce costs and strengthen their energy autonomy. Yet financing installations remains a major barrier: the investments needed often run into several million euros, capital that companies prefer to devote to growing their business.

“Many companies know that producing their own energy makes sense, but they don’t want to, or can’t afford to, tie up several million euros in energy infrastructure. We want to let them accelerate their transition while preserving their capacity to invest,” explains Henri Thonnart, CEO of Reno.energy.

Through this partnership, companies and public institutions will be able to access renewable energy production solutions without having to finance the installations themselves. The platform, called Virya Reno C&I Investments, will take on the investment and offer various contractual models, including hosting agreements or Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), allowing beneficiaries to secure local, competitive, and price-predictable energy.

“At Virya Energy, we believe the energy transition is built through strong partnerships. By joining forces with Reno.energy, we combine deep technical expertise with our energy solutions to let our industrial clients accelerate decarbonization without tying up their capital, while creating long-term value,” confirms Arnaud Bardy, Managing Director C&I Solutions Europe at Virya Energy.

Complementary expertise serving Belgian competitiveness

The three partner companies bring highly complementary expertise. Reno.energy contributes deep technical skill, strong execution capacity, and extensive knowledge of the Walloon and Brussels markets. Virya Energy, owned by Korys and Colruyt Group, brings recognized expertise in asset management, energy sales, and flexibility solutions, along with a strong national presence. Wallonie Entreprendre supports this dynamic by backing an innovative financing model that serves the competitiveness of Belgian companies and institutions.

“The energy transition doesn’t rest on technology alone, but also on the ability to finance its deployment. By bringing together public and private partners around an innovative model, we’re enabling more companies and institutions to invest in their energy future without holding back their economic development. This is exactly Wallonie Entreprendre’s role: accelerating structural projects that strengthen both the competitiveness and the transition of the region,” adds Olivier Bouchat, member of the executive committee of Wallonie Entreprendre.

This partnership is built on strong complementarity between Reno.energy, Virya Energy, and Wallonie Entreprendre. By entrusting Virya Energy and Wallonie Entreprendre with financing its large projects, Reno.energy gains an investment capacity that lets it take on projects of a much larger scale, without having to mobilize the necessary capital alone. Virya Energy, in turn, relies on Reno.energy’s recognized expertise to design, build, and maintain these installations. Reno.energy will act as EPC partner (Engineering, Procurement & Construction), responsible for the engineering, procurement, and construction of the installations, as well as their operation and maintenance throughout their life cycle.

“After structuring our industrial division with the arrival of Eoden and Ardent in our capital, we’re proud to now structure our financial division with the arrival of Virya Energy and Wallonie Entreprendre, further strengthening our position as energy simplifiers for all stakeholders,” notes Henri Thonnart, CEO of Reno.energy.

A first project at the Knauf site in Visé

The first financed project concerns the Knauf industrial site in Visé, with the development of what will be one of the largest solar canopies in the country, fitted with 24,000 solar panels across 75,000 m². More broadly, the platform aims to finance 100 MWp of solar installations, benefiting companies and public institutions across Belgium.

This partnership primarily benefits companies and public institutions. By bringing together technical expertise, private financing, and public support, Reno.energy, Virya Energy, and Wallonie Entreprendre are removing one of the main obstacles to the transition. Through this new offering, the partners intend to accelerate the energy transition while durably strengthening the competitiveness of the Belgian economic fabric. The platform, which initially focuses on photovoltaics, will also be able to offer clients other services developed by Virya Energy, integrating battery energy storage (BESS), EV charging stations, and smart energy management (EMS).
